The cap of this fungus is hemispherical, fan-shaped, hoof-shaped, bright orange to orange-red, slightly wrinkled or smooth with small concentric zones, leathery and margin thin. Its pore surface is bright reddish orange, darker than the cap and pores round to angular. The flesh is thin and of the same colour as the pores. This fungus is very common, scattered and growing gregariously or in overlapping layers on decayed wood and logs in open forest areas, log yards and on old abandoned timber.
