Lego je naozaj krasne a komplexne. Ako fanusika NASA, naozaj potesi vela detailov, ktore stavebnica obsahuje. Niektore detaily by sice mohli byt lepsie, ale neubera to na kvalite vyrobku. Teleskop je stavebnica, ktora by mohla byt predavana aj ako samostatny model. Naozaj odporucam tento set.

I'll be up front - I built the Concorde (2023) the weekend before doing this kit (being a 2021 issue). The Concorde had 3D instructions whereas the Discovery had only the book or a pdf of the book. 3D modelling instructions are far superior!
The instructions for this kit try to show the whole build on one page just to put one small sub assembly on. Does it go to this stud or the one next to it? The 3d instructions auto zoom in to the hot spot and if they didn't, you could force it to, as well as rotate the picture. This latter advantage really helps when the piece is being placed behind something else.
Anyway, we're stuck with the paper instructions.
It was quite a time consuming build, though never repetitive to the point of boredom. As is usual with many kits of symmetrical things, there is plenty of 'build the righthand piece then build the lefthand piece'.
The only place I got caught out badly was wth the nose landing gear. I got the two grey 'knuckle' parts the wrong way round (step 129). Hint: the wheels are not supposed to swivel below the knuckle (which seemed a plausible action at the time). I only discovered the error at step 308 when putting the forward assembly on meant there wasn't room for the wheels to go up. Cost about two hours reconstruction...

As with the Concorde, the shuttle can stand on its own landing gear, just don't let a kid push it around!

I think this build is okay but Lego really missed some crucial points of the shuttle. First off as one who had worked at Kennedy space center and worked in the assembly building, I’ve seen the shuttle up close and personal. I can’t believe Lego did not add the protected tiles (shuttle is known for it) on the bottom. Not to mention it’s nice that it has retracts but again why not add the retract doors or aka flaps? This would not have been hard to do and would have made it even better. Also as the wheels are retracted good luck getting them out with out a small tool. Like the printed pieces but why add stickers also? I mean really 4 extra bricks come on, it’s not like they don’t make a fortune on this set. The bay doors should have had the hinges on the inside and where the Hubble w the solar panels would fit in the cargo bay. The cockpit from being in (Atlantis) is not even close. Yes it’s hard for small space but least get the main seats right ( there are panels between them and above etc. definitely could have made the engines better. The Saturn fives are better than these w more detail. For the extra 100-200 pieces the price difference would be worth it.

Next is why build the Artemis set when they could have done launch pad 39a with the mover and solid rocket booster and external tank as a follow up set?

So overall this is a pretty good set, however there are a few issues that had a negative impact on my build experience.

First, there was a single missing piece - as a result the rear landing gear does not work :( I've made a request for the missing piece, hopefully it doesn't take over a week to arrive!

Secondly some of the instructions are a tad off - they are not wrong but the angle of the pictures leave some block positions a little ambiguous. To be fair this is a criticism of many Lego sets - there are only so many angles you can see in a 2D print :)

Thirdly the use of stickers for some detailing - sorry I don't like having to use stickers on Lego, and worse is that this set has some printed parts and then stickers for other parts - it really makes no sense. Use one method or the other.

The forth issue may seem like nitpicking, but considering the attention to detail it is disappointing. This is NOT the Space Shuttle, it is the Orbiter - without the two SRB's and the main fuel tank (the whole package is the Space Shuttle).

Overall though this was a very nice set to build, both the Orbiter and Hubble are very solid and look very nice on my display shelf. The two stands are also very sturdy and hold up well.
