‘Minor explosion’ reported at London tube station

Police are investigating a “minor explosion” at London’s Southgate railway station — which injured several people on Tuesday, according to officials.

A suspicious package was reportedly found at the scene, and cops are now investigating that as well.

“Southgate Tube station is currently closed whilst officers respond,” tweeted the British Transport Police. “A small number of people have been treated at the scene by @Ldn_Ambulance. No serious injuries reported and enquiries continue.”

The busy underground station, which is located in north London, was evacuated at around 7 p.m. local time following the explosion, cops said.

Residents have been told to avoid the scene. Many have taken to social media to document what’s going on.

“Stuck in an Indian restaurant opposite #Southgate station because of a suspect bomb going off inside (the station),” wrote one Twitter user.

“Don’t know too much except we have been told to stay inside,” he said. “Saw one person coming out on a stretcher.”
