At the 2023 Met Gala, Dua Lipa hit the red carpet in a vintage Chanel gown paired with an enormous, breathtaking diamond lariat necklace, giving new meaning to the words “statement necklace.” However, it seems like the pop star is bored with those opulent jewels, as she skipped the necklace entirely at her latest red carpet event.

Lipa attended the Hollywood Reporter Women in Entertainment gala wearing a sleek black strapless column gown with a super high slit up her thigh. The dress was gorgeous in its simplicity, giving Lipa's long cherry cola red hair lots of space to shine, but what we noticed right away was that the pop star didn't wear any jewelry save for a handful of rings. A bold black and gold buckle on the bodice of her strapless dress served as her only true accessory for the night, and that unexpected twist on red carpet dressing was so refreshing.

We also gotta talk about that slit, the other centerpiece of her gala glam. The gown was sliced all the way up the thigh for a peekaboo effect as Lipa moved, adding a hint of va-va-voom bombshell allure to the simple black dress. Under the dress, she wore sheer black tights and strappy black heels. Lipa's hair and makeup were equally simple; she wore her hair long and loose in subtle waves and her go-to strong brow, lots of lashes and a neutral lip.

While we're used to seeing Dua Lipa in glitzy stage costumes, lace catsuits and head-to-toe Versace, this more pared-down vibe is a fun change from her usual look, and honestly? Jewelry would have been overkill with such a sleek look. Is this the dawn of a new era for the “Houdini” singer, or was she just playing around with fashion and mixing it up? Either way, we're in.
