Efficiency

Using the results we gathered so far, we plotted a chart showing the PSU's efficiency at low loads and loads ranging from 10 to 110 percent of the maximum-rated capacity.

This is an efficient platform, and the lack of a cooling fan increases efficiency at light loads because no energy is lost on this component, and every watt counts at light loads. On the other hand, increased temperatures increase energy losses on all parts but diodes.

10%–110% Load Testing

These tests reveal the PSU's load regulation and efficiency levels under high ambient temperatures and show how the fan-speed profile behaves under harsh operating conditions.

Despite the lack of active cooling, the PSU managed to survive my hot tests even when overloaded. It is impressive to see a passive PSU delivering 110% of its maximum-rated output at 46.6 °C.

Light Load Testing

In the following tests, we measure the PSU's efficiency at loads significantly lower than 10 percent of the maximum capacity—the lowest load the 80 PLUS standard measures. This is important for when a PC is idle with its power-saving features turned on.

Efficiency at light loads is incredibly high.

Ultra-Light Load Testing

The applied load in this test is only 10 W for PSUs with 500 W and less capacity. This is because we dial in 2% of the maximum-rated capacity for all other PSUs and only run this test with 115 V input.

The PSU breaks the 70% mark with 2% load, which means it meets the new ATX specification requirements.

The 5VSB rail achieves decent efficiency, but I expected more from a Titanium unit.

Power consumption is low in standby with even 230 V input, which is the worst-case scenario.
