Actor Leslie Nielsen, who played Colonel Buzz Brighton in “The Ringbanger” during the first season of M*A*S*H, passed away yesterday at the age of 84. Although without a doubt best known for his comedic roles in films like Airplane! and The Naked Gun series, Nielsen spent decades playing dramatic roles on television and in films.

No disrespect intended. He will be missed, and FOREVER remembered!!!!!
Col. Buzz Brighton….The Ringbanger, great episode and he was very funny in it.
RIP Mr. Nielsen!!! Heaven just got a little funnier with both you and Mr. Gelbart there!!!
FRANK: *Outside* Colonel Brighton?
MARGARET and BUZZ: *Shout-whipser* Why can’t he leave me alone?!
FRANK: *Outside* Colonel, are you in there?
MARGARET: *Whispers* Don’t say I’m here!
BUZZ: *Whispers* Don’t say I’M here, he can’t keep his hands off me!
MARGARET: Whu?
BUZZ: I was just going into my tent…
HAWKEYE: That’s not your tent its over here…..
what a great episode!!
R.I.P.
What a classy, hilarious, and even underrated actor.
I was suprised to see how in depth his filmography is, almost into Christopher Lee territory. Even though most people identify him with The Naked Gun and Airplane, I always think of his great role in Creepshow and his role on M*A*S*H.
His dialogue with Hawkeye, Trapper and especially Frank makes for one of the funniest M*A*S*H episodes.
BUZZ: “I’m sorry Colonel I didn’t know he was your girl….I mean I didn’t know she was your girl.”
