Mike Tyson is taking his return to the ring very seriously and proof of that is the latest decision he's made. The former undisputed heavyweight champion faces Jake Paul on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas (streaming on Netflix) and he's pulling out all the stops to get in shape.

Tyson's name is always paired with marijuana for a variety of reasons. Not only does he have a lucrative business dedicated to the cultivation of this psychotropic, but he also sells various products under his own brand, Tyson 2.0. In this regard, his cannabis-infused gummy ears with a small bite at the top are famous. In addition, he is most often seen smoking during recordings of his podcast 'Hotboxin' with Mike Tyson', which is now on 'standby' as he prepares for his fight. Iron Mike' even revealed that before stepping into the ring with Roy Jones Jr. he smoked to calm his nerves.

But now something seems to have changed in the former New York champion. Since marijuana is on the list of substances banned by the Texas department that regulates combat sports, Tyson has decided to abide by the rules. What's more, it may be that at 57 years old, what he's trying might be more difficult for him than fighting someone 30 years younger than him.

According to his publicity agent. Joann Mignano, 'Iron Mike' "has stopped using marijuana to abide by the rules, but he remains a strong advocate for the medicinal benefits of cannabis for his personal well-being and that of others like him," she told USA Today Sports. What remains unclear is whether the fight between Tyson and Paul will be exhibition or professional. In the former case, nothing would happen for testing positive for the substance.
