If you’re attending the American Heart Association’s Red Dress Collection Concert, really, what choice do you have but to wear red?

For the red carpet event, Demi Lovato arrived, fittingly, in a candy-apple red gown with a halter-style bodice and voluminous full-length skirt with folds all over. To contrast the striking dress, the “29” singer carried a small black geometric clutch with a silver clasp closure, which perfectly coordinated with her wavy black locks and dark, smoky eye shadow.

Lovato was one of the evening’s performers, and when she hit the stage, she traded her ball gown for a rocker-chic look, also in candy red. The fit was composed of a latex jacket with dramatic shoulder pads that jutted out to the sides; the piece was cinched at the waist with a matching corset bodice, which gave the bottom of the blazer a split front. Lovato paired the statement top with matching wide-leg pants and patent leather platform heels that continued the monochrome color scheme.

While the “Cool for the Summer” crooner couldn’t exactly hold a clutch onstage, she did end up keeping the black-and-red contrast going with her glossy star-shaped electric guitar, painted in a coal black.

Prior to the show, Lovato noted the importance of the event on her Instagram Story, writing: “Tonight is all about reminding women how important it is to advocate for ourselves and to prioritize our health. Join me and @american_heart and @goredforwomen as we Go Red for Women! #ourhealth #heartmonth.”
