Within one hundred kilometres, in a small circle of great historical sites, it is easy to discover an interesting past. Our destination is ideally located, equally distant from some of Europe's most famous UNESCO World Heritage sites: Split (100 km), Trogir (120 km), Dubrovnik (110 km), Stari Grad Plain on the island of Hvar (70 km) and oriental Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina (75 km)
Split is the centre and capital of Dalmatia. It is an ancient city with the Diocletian's palace in its centre, one of the best-preserved late antiquity constructions in the world. The famous Roman emperor Diocletian spent his retirement days setting up the city of Split. One of the busiest Mediterranean passenger ports is also home to the famous football club Hajduk.
Just a few kilometres from the city centre, there is another great monument from antiquity – the ancient Salona. In the first century AD, Salona was the fourth largest city in the world. The remains of ancient Salona will impress every visitor. After several centuries Salona transformed into early Christian Solin, a crowning place during early Croatian history, which makes it even more valuable.
A bit further away from Split and Solin is Trogir – a city of priceless value and historical sights.

On the island of Hvar, which is easily reached by ferry from Drvenik, 10 minutes’ drive from here, is UNESCO site Stari Grad Plain, the first example of cadastral field division from antiquity. It is located next to the 2400-year-old town of Stari Grad. But the island of Hvar offers much more – the historic city of Hvar nowadays attracts the members of jet set from all over the world.
In a short car ride, you can tour the Makarska Riviera and its 50 kilometres from Gradac to Brela. All its places are real gems, attracting a large number of tourists for decades. Pebble beaches, quiet spots for relaxation and walks, biking, hiking and trekking trails as well as cosy restaurants and bars guarantee a relaxed holiday.

If you during your stay at our destination decide to go west, we are convinced that you will want to visit a special new attraction Skywalk and Biokovo Nature Park (35 km), beautiful and rich in history island of Brač (by ferry from Makarska), Blue Lake and Red Lake nearby Imotski (70 km) and the magnificent natural beauties of Krka National Park (170 km).

Just a little bit towards east you will find seven wondrous Baćina Lakes (18 km), the ultimate gastronomic paradise – abundant valley of the Neretva River and its mouth, the kiteboarding kingdom (20 km), hear the sound of a wind organ in Rogotin (20 km), see the Walls of Ston (60 km), the famous vineyards of the Pelješac Peninsula (70 km by car, and even closer by ferry from Ploče). In Metković (35 km), you can visit a newly refurbished Natural History Museum, and on the second Saturday in August witness a spectacular Boat Marathon down the Neretva River – a traditional race of ancient boats from Metković to Ploče, featuring representatives of all settlements along the Neretva River.

In our hinterland, you can taste the delicacies of the town of Vrgorac (45 km), visit the most beautiful archaeological museum in this part of Europe – Narona Archaeological Museum in Vid (40 km) – or go to Međugorje in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a well-known Catholic pilgrimage site (55 km).
