Fresh from recording a collaborative EP at the Marfa Myths Festival, Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox has announced that Cate Le Bon will be producing the band’s new record. In an interview with Vogue’s Rachel Hahn (who is also a Pitchfork contributor), Cox detailed the plan for Deerhunter’s upcoming LP. “The rest of the band will arrive on Sunday, and Cate is going to produce the next Deerhunter record here [in Marfa, Texas], which will be very informed by the environment.”

Cox has also revealed the working title, Why Hasn’t Everything Already Disappeared?, which was also informed by Marfa’s setting. “The desert just has a lot of disappeared things in it,” he explained. “It’s where things have disappeared to.” Representatives for Cate Le Bon had no information regarding the project, and Deerhunter’s representatives offered Pitchfork no comment.

The album-in-the-works follows Deerhunter’s 2015 release Fading Frontier. The band recently launched a curated playlist series called “Deerhunter Sunday Night Radio Hour.” They’re slated to tour this summer with a new band lineup. Cate Le Bon’s last solo record, Crab Day, arrived in 2016. Her new album Hippo Lite with collaborative project DRINKS is out this Friday.
