Domica cave

The largest Slovak cave, Domica, is located on the edge of the Silicka plain and, together with the Hungarian Baradla cave, forms a unique cave complex with a length of 25 kilometers. One of the reasons for its uniqueness is, in case of favorable conditions, the possibility of a tour combined with a cruise on the underground river Styx.

During the discovery of the cave, in addition to stalagmites, stalactites and stalagnates, rare archaeological finds dating back 5-6 thousand years were found here, which prove the presence of man long before its modern discovery. The cave can be reached by car and parked in the immediate vicinity of the entrance, but there are also marked hiking and cycling routes. It is interesting that in 1982 the well-known fairy tale Soľ nad Zlato was filmed here.
