Claims (13)

1. An elevator system, comprising: a structure having a plurality of landings, an elevator car mounted for movement relative to the structure to serve the landings, and control means including a call bus, and a plurality of call circuits associated with predetermined landings, said plurality of call circuits each being connected to said call bus, each of said call circuits including means for registering a request for elevator service, a call memory element settable from a first condition to a second condition in response to a registered request for service, and including means for accessing said plurality of call circuits in a predetermined sequence with said call circuits outputting a signal to the call bus when accessed indicative of the condition of its call memory element, whereby a serial string of call signals are generated on the call bus.
2. The elevator system of claim 1 including a reset bus connected to the plurality of call circuits, and reset means, said reset means providing a signal on said reset bus when a call memory element which is in its second condition is to be reset to its first condition, said reset signal resetting a set call memory element when the call circuit is accessed.
3. The elevator system of claim 1 including scan counter means which repetitively counts through a predetermined group of numbers to provide a plurality of scan slots, with the landings of the structure being assigned to different scan slots, and wherein the means for accessing the call circuits advances from one call circuit to another call circuit each time the scan counter outputs a number assigned to a landing.
4. The elevator system of claim 3 including reset means and a reset bus, said reset means providing a reset signal on the reset bus for a selected landing in the time slot assigned to the selected landing, wherein the plurality of call circuits are connected to said reset bus and a call memory element which has been set to its second condition is reset to its first condition by a reset signal in its associated time slot when the call circuit is accessed.
5. The elevator system of claim 1 wherein each call circuit includes a ring counter memory element, and including means interconnecting the ring counter memory elements of the call circuits to provide a ring counter, with the means for accessing the call circuits including clock means for advancing a predetermined signal from one ring counter memory to the next, which predetermined signal accesses the call memory element.
6. The elevator system of claim 5 including scan counter means which repetitively counts through a predEtermined group of numbers to provide a plurality of scan slots, with the landings of the structure being assigned to different scan slots, and wherein the clock means advances the ring counter each time the scan counter outputs a number assigned to a landing.
7. The elevator system of claim 1 wherein each call circuit includes a lamp which is illuminated during the time its associated call memory element is set.
8. The elevator system of claim 1 wherein the control means is car control means disposed in the elevator car and requests for elevator service include car call requests registered by passengers in the elevator car.
9. The elevator system of claim 8 wherein the control means provides predetermined car signals in addition to car calls, and including multiplexing means for time multiplexing the serial car calls from the call bus with said predetermined car signals.
10. The elevator system of claim 1 wherein each of the call circuits includes comparator means and means which provides an address signal which identifies the call circuit, and including an address bus and means providing different addresses on said address bus, said comparator means comparing its address signal with the address on said address bus and providing a signal which accesses its associated call memory when the address on the address bus is equal to the address of the call circuit.
11. The elevator system of claim 1 wherein the means for registering a request for service is a push button, with the remaining portions of its associated call circuit being mounted directly behind the push button.
12. The elevator system of claim 1 wherein the control means is car control means disposed in the elevator car and requests for service include car call requests, and including additional control means remote from the elevator car, said additional control means including means for registering requests for service which are also effective in setting a selected call memory element from its first to its second condition.
13. The elevator system of claim 12 including scan counter means which repetitively counts through a predetermined group of numbers to provide a plurality of scan slots, with the landings of the structure being assigned to different scan slots, and wherein the means for accessing the call circuits advances from one call circuit to another call circuit each time the scan counter outputs a number assigned to a landing.
